THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT – TO REGISTER FOR THE WAITING LIST EMAIL : chair@johnadamssociety.co.uk

This is your opportunity to join JAS member and leading expert in all things ‘Stonehenge’, David Jacques, as he takes us on a tour of the area and to the most historically significant Mesolithic (8500BC – 4000BC) archaeological site in the UK at Blick Mead.  This is a JAS exclusive event and will visit areas you cannot visit as a tourist.

David will guide our group through Blick Mead and then Stonehenge itself as we learn about the oldest settlement and the longest continually occupied site in the UK, wander around Neolithic (4000BC – 2500BC) houses, walk to the Stone Circle, and also have the chance to actually hold some ancient artefacts.  Those of you who attended David’s recent JAS lecture will recall that he brought some ancient flint weapons and tools for us to see first-hand.

JAS has arranged for a coach to take our party to Stonehenge.  We will depart from the US Embassy, 24 Grosvenor Square, London W1A 2LQ, on Saturday 14 May at 0900.  We will return to the same place at approximately 2000.

Places for this event are strictly limited due to the size of the executive coach we have ordered.  Teas and coffees will be served on the coach during the trip.

Approximate itinerary (times may change):

09:00 – Depart London from US Embassy

11:30 – arrive Blick Mead (Amesbury)

13:00 – depart Blick Mead

13:30 – arrive Stonehenge

14:00 – booked entry slot

17:30 – depart Stonehenge

20:00 – arrive London US Embassy

This event is open to JAS Members, US Embassy staff and friends of JAS.  There are three different tickets available when you register so please ensure you request the correct kind of ticket.  Your ticket will cover all travel on the day and entrance to the sites.  Teas and coffees will be served on the coach but food is not included.

We look forward to spending the day with you in ancient England!
