19 September 2013: JAS and BritBangla co-hosted a talk with young social entrepreneur Adnan Mahmud, founder of Jolkona, on technology, philanthropy and social change at the US Embassy.

12 September 2013: The US Embassy Public Affairs Office teamed up with JAS to field two teams for the Embassy’s Pub Quiz Night.

22 May 2013: JAS members were given a private tour of the Metropolitan Police’s Crime Museum at New Scotland Yard. Read more about the visit here.

16 May 2013: JAS members joined Public Affairs staff to compete in the U.S. Embassy Pub Quiz in the Regal Eagle, the Embassy’s pub. The team came a respectable 3rd, behind the might of the Political Section and the massed-ranks of their Foreign and Commonwealth Office contacts!

26 April 2013: The John Adam Society’s 2nd Annual General Meeting was held at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Edinburgh. Special guest Olympian Katherine Grainger addressed members. Read more about the evening here.

7-8 February 2013: The John Adams Society held a series of special events in collaboration with ENAM, the European Network of American Alumni Associations. These events included examinations of the work of alumni associations in Europe, especially in terms of inspiring young future leaders, and provided an opportunity to reflect on the outcome of the U.S. Presidential election. Events were held at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Houses of Parliament, hosted by Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans MP.

15 November 2012: The John Adams Society 2nd Annual Lecture was held at Winfield House, hosted by Minister Barbara Stephenson. Heather Smith, the president of the nonpartisan organization Rock the Vote, discussed youth participation in politics, particularly the role of the youth vote in the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Elections.

4 July 2012: The John Adams Society hosted an Independence Day party on the evening of July 4th at the Dickens Inn, St. Katherine’s Dock, London.

12 June 2012: The John Adams Society hosted a “Presidential Election Preview Breakfast” for members and guests at the Institute of Directors. The Society listened to a fascinating and inciteful presentation from two leading U.S. pollsters. Read more here.

2 May 2012: JAS members and guests enjoyed a performance of “Soul Sister” at the Hackney Empire. The production is produced by JAS member Danya Miller.

6 March 2012: The John Adams Society’s 1st Annual General Meeting was held at the U.S. Embassy, 17:00-19:00. Read more here.

17 November 2011: The John Adams Society 1st Annual Lecture was held at the Royal United Services Institute. Spencer Boyer, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs delivered a talk entitled: “Foreign policy implications of multiculturalism: strategy and practice”. 3 November 2011: John Adams Society members attended a special lecture co-hosted by the U.S. Embassy and the Institute for Northern American Studies at King’s College London examining the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and British reforming MP, John Bright. Full details can be found here.
